La Pointe du Médoc
OUR ENVIRONMENTAL APPROACH
Located by the sea in Gironde, our La Pointe du Médoc campsite has adopted a sustainable development approach. We are committed to offering you the most enjoyable stay in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in a natural, unspoilt setting. Sustainable development: a value we uphold at our 4-star campsite. It’s an ideal place to spend a holiday in Gironde while respecting the environmental values that we hold dear.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
We have introduced selective sorting to facilitate recycling and reduce our environmental impact. On site, you can also visit our mini farm, where our pigs and hens live, for some family-friendly time. In addition, we are working with the BORDOLEO company to recycle the restaurant’s used oils, which are recovered in Saint-Loubès and converted into biofuel.
We also pay attention to the management of hazardous waste, such as batteries and light bulbs, with specific, secure storage. Internally, we limit printing thanks to our digital communication networks, and we practice conscientious printing, reusing drafts to minimise paper wastage.
MAINTAINING AND PRESERVING BIODIVERSITY
The campsite has developed around a tourist destination, anchored in a unique setting between land and sea. The hotel is set in 6.5 hectares of wooded parkland.
Our campsite is committed to minimising its environmental impact by reducing the use of phytosanitary products to the strict minimum. To blend in with the surrounding landscape, the front of the buildings and the perimeter of the campsite are planted with vegetation. This commitment to the environment has been recognised since 2004, when our campsite was awarded the Green Key label.
We also encourage our visitors to adopt responsible behaviour, with posters in the mobile homes reminding them of the best practices. In addition, we limit the use of heat tools to preserve the tranquillity of the premises and reduce our energy footprint. For eco-friendly travel, we offer bike hire, allowing you to explore the region in an environmentally friendly way.
WATER MANAGEMENT
As part of our eco-responsible approach, we have installed a drip watering system for the vegetation, limiting water consumption. Daily meter readings keep a close eye on this consumption, while ensuring increased monitoring of water leaks to avoid any wastage. What’s more, our washrooms are equipped with water-saving devices, such as the PRESTO system, to reduce our ecological footprint and preserve this precious resource.
ECO-RESPONSIBLE PURCHASING
We have installed picnic tables made of wood from sustainably managed forests. We also favour the purchase of ecolabelled cleaning products, guaranteeing less impact on the environment. For our customers, we have selected Ecocert and Cosmebio certified organic care products, made with over 99% ingredients of natural origin, to offer you treatments that respect your well-being and the planet.
In the campsite’s spa area, we use and promote the TooFruit organic range, specially designed for sensitive skin. In order to reduce waste, we buy our products in large quantities, thus limiting unnecessary packaging. What’s more, our grocery shop features local products, favouring short supply chains to support local producers and offer quality products to our visitors.
ENERGY MANAGEMENT
We actively encourage our guests to turn off the heating and lights in mobile homes and communal areas when not in use, to limit energy consumption. All our new fridges in rental properties are economy category A or A+, guaranteeing better energy efficiency. What’s more, we’ve replaced the old bulbs with low-energy bulbs throughout the campsite. To better manage our impact, we take weekly readings of electricity consumption, in order to monitor and optimise our energy expenditure.
AIR QUALITY
To promote a healthier, eco-responsible environment, we have introduced increased ventilation in the washrooms to ensure optimal ventilation. In the same vein, there are no air conditioners in the mobile homes, reducing our energy impact. Air conditioning is limited to essential areas such as reception and the bar/restaurant, ensuring essential comfort while respecting our commitment to the environment.
ECONOMIC VALUE
We prioritise choosing local artisans to support the regional economy and guarantee authentic services. Our many partnerships with local players enable us to offer enriching tourist activities and events, while showcasing the region’s expertise. We also network with other tourism players, encouraging mutual support and the exchange of services, to offer a complete experience to our visitors. Finally, we promote the Médoc’s riches and heritage by recommending must-see visits, such as the town centre of Soulac-sur-Mer, the Cordouan Lighthouse, the wine route and discovering the Gironde.
SOCIAL VALUE
We provide housing for staff, to offer them a comfortable and practical working environment. Attentive to the needs of all our customers, we place particular importance on those with disabilities, with accessible pitches and mobile homes for people with reduced mobility. As part of our responsible approach, we give priority to local candidates, thereby promoting employment in our region. What’s more, in partnership with Restos du Cœur, we redistribute unsold products from the grocery shop to fight food waste.
